If you’re experiencing fear or doubt or just need a little encouragement regarding your writing today, I hope this helps.
Dear writer…
Many people will fall in love with your work, but make sure you do first.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
You are not behind. You are not too late. Everyone is on their own path, and each path requires its own unique timeline. Stop judging yours.
It’s okay to take your time.
Self-doubt and imposter syndrome are normal. The choice to let them dictate your actions, however, is entirely yours.
Quit hiding your magic. You’re ready for this.
You can recommit to your writing and start fresh any time you want. Your past doesn’t define you.
Once you start writing, you are a writer. Embrace the title. It’s yours.
You already have what it takes. Trust the process.
There is no singular “right” way to write a book. Everyone’s process is different. Give yourself the grace to discover yours.
That idea you’ve been dying to write that also terrifies you a bit? Go write that. It came to you for a reason.
Consistency is more important than perfection.
No one can write a book or tell a story exactly the way you can because you’re a one-of-a-kind blend of background, experiences, personality, and tastes. Embrace your unique perspective.
Remember why you started.
You’re doing great. Whether you’ve written one word or one page today, I’m proud of you for showing up.
There will never be a “perfect” time to start writing or working on that project you’ve been thinking about. Just start.
Someone out there is waiting for a book like yours to come along. Keep going.
Done is better than perfect.
You’re creating something out of nothing. If that's not magic, I don't know what is.
No creative venture is perfectly smooth from start to finish. Challenges aren’t stop signs; they’re part of the journey.
Your work is worthy of being in the world simply because YOU want it to be. It’s enough to create it for one person, even when that one person is yourself.
Filling up your cup, letting your mind rest, and playing are valid and important parts of the creative process, too.
There’s a difference between putting your best effort into something and torturing yourself over not being “good enough.”
Push through the discomfort of beginnings.
Small steps add up to big progress.
Sending you love today. xx
